PARK HILL SHEFFIELD ENGLAND - REMAKE / REMODEL CATALOGUE (2006)
Like Ian Anderson, Park Hill was conceived in the 50s and delivered in the 60s. The Park Hill 'promotional catalogue' for urban regenerators Urban Splash was his dream job — Modern(ist) architecture and Sheffield people. 90 ring-bound pages of pure TDR™ conceived as a manual of Ian's twist on Nick Johnson's text, archive and commissioned photography of, and inspired by, the landmark with plans, aerial views of the regeneration project, as was, and visionary fold out renders by Studio Egret West, the manual was originally delivered to persuade people to vote for a way to regenerate (remake / remodel) this internationally important building at a time when others were proposing it be knocked down.
What was conceived as a promotional item looking forward now serves as a key document of the history of the future 1961 — 2006.
90-page ringbound and hard-covered in half-case box dripping in spot UV, fluorescent splashes and fold-out pages throughout, we unearthed a number of copies originally donated by Urban Splash for TDR™ to sell on the old Peoples Bureau For Consumer Information site to help cover costs before we shut it down… for a while ;-)
